Driving While On the Phone or Texting
Everyone knows how dangerous
talking on the phone or texting while driving is. But people still do it which leads to many
car crashes and casualties. I agree that
based on statistical evidence, texting and making phone calls while driving,
especially for teenagers, should be banned.
These three graphs show different types of data and collisions
throughout the years, and the ages of the drivers.
Throughout the years collisions have been on the
rise. For instance from figure 1 it
shows in 2001 the collision rate was at 15,000,000 then it was at 22,500,000 in
2009. Based on the evidence from the
graph between 2009 and 2001 the collision rate went up by 7,500,000. The most interesting data is that the people
most responsible for the collisions are people from the ages of 15-24. But to add something these individuals
causing the collisions are also talking on the phone or texting. As an illustration from figure 3 it shows 50
% of people causing car crashes are ages 15-24 while talking on the phone. Another illustration from figure 3 the car
crashes caused by people texting from the age of 15-24 is 68 %. The data from this age of collisions is more
than any other age combined. Showing
that people from the age of 15-24 are more responsible for collisions from
talking on the phone/ texting and driving.
The largest trend for collisions is from texting while driving, not
talking on the phone. For instance from
figure 3 for the ages of 15-24 texting while driving had 68 % of
collisions. While talking on the phone
and driving for the ages 15-24 had only 50% of collisions.
Therefore based on the evidence from the graph you
can see how dangerous it is to drive while texting or talking on the
phone. Shown with the data from figure 1
the graphs showing the increases of collisions from the year 2001 all the way
up to 2009. Also the data from figure 3
showing texting while driving is more dangerous for people from the ages of
15-24. As an illustration from figure 3
it shows that the age most responsible for accidents is the ages 15-24.
